Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Laser Skin Rejuvenation in Guilford CT | Dr. Gary Price Sun damage, skin disorders, heredity, and aging all contribute to skin irregularities on the face and the body. Anyone can have wrinkles, skin pigmentation problems, acne scars, sunspots, and freckles. Laser skin rejuvenation can address these conditions, and Dr. Price offers three laser skin rejuvenation treatments to meet the unique needs of every patient.

What is laser skin rejuvenation?

Laser skin rejuvenation is a non-invasive procedure that combats the signs of “actinic” or sun related aging. Traditional surgical techniques remove the extra skin, which is the result of the passage of time and stretching. Laser skin rejuvenation addresses changes in the fabric of that skin, the fine wrinkles and irregular pigmentation caused by the sun and other light sources.

What are my laser skin rejuvenation options?

ActiveFX. With a single treatment, this fractional laser rejuvenation procedure offers real results with little downtime. The skin is tightened by the use of a high-energy beam of laser light that effectively reduces lines, scars, and wrinkles. It is also effective in removing brown spots and other skin irregularities. With this treatment, small “bridges” of untouched skin are left since only a fraction of the skin’s surface is treated. The healing process is much faster and you can go back to your daily routine sooner.

DeepFX. Deep FX can treat deep wrinkles and scars using an ultrapulse laser. It is effective in improving the patient’s skin tone. The laser also increases the production of collagen to create healthier and smoother skin. With DeepFX, improvements can last for many years.

TotalFX. This treatment from Lumenis combines both the ActiveFX and DeepFX systems. It treats sun-damaged skin and brown spots. It is also effective in treating wrinkles, scars, and an uneven skin tone. It is a total resurfacing treatment that offers excellent and long-lasting results.

Am I a good candidate for laser skin rejuvenation?

Anyone who is healthy may be a good candidate for this procedure. During your consultation, you will need to inform Dr. Price if you have experienced any of the following:

  • Prolonged wound healing
  • Blood clotting problems
  • Tendency to scar
  • An infectious disease such as HIV or hepatitis
  • If you have had any cosmetic surgery done

You will also have to protect your skin from the sun before your actual treatment. A patient with sunburned or tanned skin is not a candidate for laser skin rejuvenation.

What kind of recovery is involved with laser skin rejuvenation?

Depending on the individuals skin type and laser used, recovery may be as short as a day. With more aggressive “Deep” or “Total FX” treatments, it may take as long as five to seven days before makeup will hide the mild redness which will steadily fade.
