Connecticut Plastic Surgery Specialist Now Offering Vectra® 3D Imaging

In an effort to help Connecticut plastic surgery patients preview their potential surgical results, Dr. Gary J. Price is offering Vectra® 3D Imaging.

Guilford, Connecticut (August 2011) – Dr. Gary J. Price is now offering Vectra® 3D Imaging to his Connecticut plastic surgery patients to help them envision their potential results before surgery. Dr. Price feels that the computer imaging technology can help patients feel more confident about their decision.

“One of the most challenging aspects of plastic surgery for patients is visualizing what their results will look like after surgery,” says Dr. Price, who is one of the first Guilford CT plastic surgeons to offer this innovative technology. “With Vectra 3D Imaging, patients can visualize their potential enhancements. For example, with breast augmentation, a woman can see how she might look with different sizes of implants.”

Vectra 3D Imaging works by using specially placed cameras to take pictures of the body or face in fine detail. The cameras then create a 3D image of the patient’s features and allow the surgeon to make adjustments to achieve the desired effect. The computerized results can be viewed from every angle, making it easy to show patients how plastic surgery might benefit their appearance.

“Allowing patients to preview their potential results in detail is one of the Vectra 3D’s most important features,” Dr. Price explains. “My patients can tell me what they like, and what they want to modify, such as the shape of their nose. For example, a patient might want a higher nasal tip. Or, in the case of breast augmentation, a woman might decide to choose a larger size. It helps me to achieve the results they want.”

In addition, the computer images allow patients to have realistic expectations about their appearance after surgery. For example, women who decide to have breast augmentation in Connecticut can play an active role in choosing the size and shape that they desire. “Computer imaging is rewarding for my patients, and I am very pleased with my decision to invest in this technology,” adds Dr. Price.

Connecticut Plastic Surgery Specialist Featured in “Top Docs 2011”

Dr. Gary J. Price, a Connecticut plastic surgery specialist, was recently featured in Connecticut Magazine‘s “Top Docs 2011” issue.

Guilford, Connecticut (April 2011) – Dr. Gary Price is honored to be included in Connecticut Magazine‘s list of the top Connecticut plastic surgery specialists. The magazine sent over 5,000 questionnaires to doctors across the state, requesting each doctor to list the names of other reputable physicians within 29 specialties. The result was a compilation 837 of Connecticut’s best doctors, as selected by their peers.

“This recognition is particularly important to me because my recommendation came from fellow doctors,” says Dr. Price, one of only 19 Connecticut plastic surgeons to be selected. “I greatly respect the opinion of my peers, and join them in celebrating Connecticut’s best physicians. It can be difficult for patients to know where to turn when it comes to selecting a doctor, and surveys like this one really help.”

Dr. Price, who also serves on the Board of Directors of the Physicians Foundation, is committed to the advancement of plastic surgery techniques. He combines over 25 years of experience in plastic surgery with a dedication to educating the nation’s future surgeons as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Yale University School of Medicine.

“It’s so critical for a patient to feel comfortable with the surgeon they select,” notes Dr. Price. “I seek to build trust by offering thorough consultations, operating in a licensed surgical facility, and carefully selecting my staff. My team and I recognize the importance of understanding the needs of each patient, and we work diligently to create a comfortable environment for a personalized experience.”

A specialist in many areas of plastic surgery, Dr. Price in particular enjoys seeing the dramatic changes that are possible through body contouring surgery. He offers a number of options for women and men considering procedures such as liposuction or a tummy tuck in Connecticut.

“Whether you’ve achieved a weight loss goal or pregnancy has left you with loose, sagging skin and muscle, a tummy tuck can provide a better body contour,” says Dr. Price. “Although the goal may be the same, I customize each procedure to fit the needs of the patient. It’s just one example of the many procedures I tailor to each patient’s individual goals.”

Dr. Price was chosen as one of Connecticut’s top plastic surgeons because he is highly skilled in a wide range of procedures. From breast augmentation and nose surgery, to facial rejuvenation treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®, Dr. Price brings his experience and skill to each of the services offered at his practice. This is one of the many reasons he’s recommended by Connecticut Magazine as a top doctor.

“Whatever your needs, our practice aims to provide excellent service,” adds Dr. Price. “I’m excited to share my recognition from Connecticut Magazine with my staff, and I look forward to growing our practice to assist the needs of people as they explore the possibilities of cosmetic surgery.”

Top Docs 2012 Guide

Top Docs 2012 Guide - Gary J. Price, MD, PCDR. GARY PRICE became fascinated with plastic surgery as a first-year medical student at Penn State College of Medicine. “I continued to work in plastic surgery for the remainder of my four years of medical school,” he says, “and by the time I graduated could not imagine doing anything else.” After completing training in general surgery and then plastic surgery at Yale, Dr. Price established his practice in New Haven and Guilford, where he specializes in cosmetic surgery. He gives credit to the support of a caring, patient-focused staff for his success since then.

Dr. Price has a reputation for achieving a natural look in facial rejuvenation. His office includes a licensed surgical facility that offers privacy, convenience, comfort and safety. In addition to a full spectrum of surgical and noninvasive solutions for facial aging, his practice has recently added 3-D computer simulation, a new technology that dramatically improves communication between surgeon and patient before breast and facial procedures.

He notes that during the past 10 years there have been major advances in anti-aging procedures. Newer techniques, including lasers and various types of injectable fillers, help restore a more youthful appearance. “The results can be quite dramatic,” he says, noting that many can take less than an hour to accomplish. “Our surgical techniques have evolved significantly during that time as well,” he adds, “with incisions and recovery times getting shorter for many of our traditional operations.”

Dr. Price has appeared in numerous TV, newspaper and magazine stories about plastic surgery, and has participated in many medical missions to developing countries. He is the past president of the Connecticut State Medical Society, Connecticut Society of Plastic Surgeons and the New England Society of Plastic Surgeons. He received an M.B.A. in 2008 from the Yale School of Management.

Dr. Gary Price is once again recognized by his peers as one of the top plastic surgeons in
Connecticut Magazine‘s annual survey of 5,000 doctors, marking the fourth consecutive year Dr. Price has earned a spot on the list.

Guilford, Connecticut (March 2014) — Gary Price, M.D., (www.drgaryprice.com) has again earned a spot on the list of top plastic surgeons in Connecticut Magazine‘s annual Top Docs issue, which uses the recommendations of other physicians to compile its list.

Dr. Price is 1 of only 18 plastic and reconstructive surgeons listed in the magazine’s April 2014 edition.

“To be recognized by your peers is special, and I’m grateful and honored by the respect they have for my work as a plastic surgeon,” Dr. Price says. “To be included on the list 4 consecutive years means a lot to me.”

With more than 25 years’ experience as a board-certified surgeon, Dr. Price is known for the exceptional results he gets performing procedures such as facial rejuvenation, liposuction and breast augmentation at his Guilford, CT practice.

The list of top doctors covers a number of specialties. Connecticut Magazine annually sends 5,000 questionnaires to doctors throughout the state, asking them to recommend a specialist (other than themselves) to whom they would send a loved one for expert medical care.

“Patient care and satisfaction are the primary focus of my practice,” Dr. Price says. “They are the people who motivate me to work hard each day, and I want to continue to offer them the most advanced, proven cosmetic and reconstructive surgical techniques available.”

Dr. Price is also helping to train the next generation of surgeons as an assistant clinical professor of surgery at the Yale University School of Medicine.

“The future of our specialty is exciting,” says Dr. Price, who sees patients from Hartford and New Haven at his plastic surgery practice. “I’m proud to be part of the medical profession and a specialty that gives people a way to safely enhance their confidence by helping them reach their cosmetic goals.”

Guilford Plastic Surgeon Named Top Doc by CT Magazine

From Guilford Patch

Guilford Plastic Surgeon Dr. Gary Price is no stranger to earning high accolades for his work. He’s been named a top plastic surgeon in the state by US News and World Report. He sits on numerous boards with other esteemed colleagues, navigating the ever changing world of health care. Now, he’s celebrating his most recent achievement of being named a Top Doc by Connecticut Magazine for the third year in a row.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized in my field by my peers,” Dr. Price said in a press release in response to the achievement. “I’m very grateful to those who nominated me, as well as those who chose me through the selection process.”

Guilford Patch sat down with the plastic surgeon to talk about his accomplishments, and the first words out of his mouth were to thank the staff and team he works with.

“The reason for many of those awards, is due so much in part to my staff,” said Dr. Price, who has about 12 staffers on his team in Guilford. “It is such a reflection of their hard work. They are a big reason why our patients respond so well and have a great experience.”

That customer experience, Dr. Price says, is his biggest priorities, and one of the things he loves most about his work. To this day, Dr. Price calls every patient the night of their surgery to touch base with them and see how they are feeling.

“Developing a strong, trusting relationship with a patient is the first vital step towards our work together,” Dr. Price explained. “When patients first come in, I always ask ‘what brought you in today.’ It’s a plastic surgeons way of asking ‘what hurts.’ I want to find out what’s causing the issue, and then I want to make sure to explain their choices and options for treatment. I help them to understand what a realistic outcome might look like.”

To aid him in working with clients, Dr. Price remains on the cutting edge of technology in the field.

“One of our newest technologies is 3D imaging, which is extremely useful in many surgeries since it can generate a before and after option,” Dr. Price shared. “It’s the best way for us to see if we’re talking about the same thing. The technology has only been available for about a year and a half now, and we got it into our offices as soon as it came out. We were also one of the first offices, back when we first opened our Guilford location in 1987, to do computer imaging.”

Originally, Dr. Price went to medical school at Penn State College of Medicine to be a Family Doctor. But, when it came time to do his thesis, which focused on healing and Vitamin C, he walked into a plastic surgery lab and witnessed a cleft lip repair. He ended up staying there for four years.

“I couldn’t imagine doing anything else,” Dr. Price said.

He finished his training at Yale in 1985, and opened his own practice in New Haven, then a Guilford office in 1987. He later earned an MBA at the Yale School of Management.

In addition to running his Guilford practice, Dr. Price is also the former president of the Connecticut State Medical Society, the Connecticut Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and the New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. He also serves on the board of directors of The Physicians Foundation.

Many of the boards fund research and scholarly articles, donating funds to organizations such as Health Leads in Boston or rural clinics in Mississippi. One project Dr. Price was involved in at the Physicians Foundation included a survey of doctors about their working environment.

“That survey is a great way to take the pulse of nations’ physicians, to see the impact that the recession and health care reform has on a doctor’s working environment,” Dr. Price explained.

As for his own work, Dr. Price plans to stay in Guilford and possibly expand his business with other services and doctors.

“I look forward to incorporating new technologies that are effective,” Dr. Price said. “There are a lot of challenges to keep us busy in the future with health care reform, and we will remain prepared.”

Dr. Price remains focused on his day-to-day work, and continues to be appreciative of his accomplishments.

“To me there is nothing better than a happy patient; that’s what I look forward to,” Dr. Price concluded. “We want a patient to think they couldn’t have gotten better care anywhere else. Hearing that, that’s when I’m the happiest.”

Connecticut Plastic Surgeon Now Offering Evening Hours

Understanding that it can be tough to find time for health and beauty, Dr. Gary Price is now offering evening consultations at his New Haven office, because he believes that everyone, no matter how busy, deserves to look their best.

New Haven, Connecticut (August 2010) – Connecticut plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Price is now offering new evening consultation hours for his patients with busy workdays. The addition of these new hours gives women and men who would normally not have the time to come into his office a chance to discuss their options for enhancing their appearance.

“Most of my patients are very busy, either with work obligations, families, or both,” says Dr. Price. “They don’t have a lot of extra time to focus on themselves and their appearance. With such hectic schedules, it’s becoming increasingly hard for people to find the time to focus on health and beauty, which is why I chose to make my practice more accessible with evening appointments available on request.”

In addition to offering evening consultation hours, Dr. Price performs minimal-recovery procedures to help his busy patients achieve the look they want. These procedures include the mini tummy tuck and the “Celebrity Face Lift,” a mini-lift facial rejuvenation technique. His New Haven face lift patients appreciate having the option of a less-invasive technique that still achieves significant and satisfying results. The Celebrity Face Lift can be performed under local anesthesia in about an hour and allows patients to return to work just 24 hours later.

“The Celebrity Face Lift is a popular procedure for facial enhancement, and one of my favorite procedures to perform,” adds Dr. Price. “It’s ideal for people on-the-go because the office visit is brief, the recovery is quick, and the results are lasting. Compared to even a decade ago, my ability to create beautiful results with minimal downtime has increased significantly.”

By minimizing incisions, Dr. Price is able to perform procedures faster and shorten the recovery period. People who are focused on a quick recovery can have a Celebrity Face Lift or mini tummy tuck and be back at work or with their families sooner.

“It is my passion to help people feel good about themselves and provide beautiful, natural results. With convenient, quick recovery procedures and extended consultation hours, it is easier than ever for busy women and men to make lasting improvements to their appearance,” says Dr. Price.

Besides mini tummy tucks and Celebrity Face Lifts, Dr. Price offers many facial and body rejuvenation procedures for his patients in the New Haven area, such as breast implants, eyelid surgery, and liposuction. With his evening consultation hours, patients who are looking to enhance their appearance have a more convenient way to get started.

Plastic Surgeon Comments on Increase in Cosmetic Procedures Among Men

Dr. Gary Price, who practices plastic surgery in New Haven, Connecticut, examines why more men are turning to cosmetic surgery and non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures.

New Haven, Connecticut (May 2012) – More and more men are seeking plastic surgery in New Haven and across the country, says Dr. Gary Price, a board-certified plastic surgeon in Connecticut.

“Men are becoming increasingly aware of the benefits of cosmetic surgery,” Dr. Price says. “Every year, I see more men who are interested in not only facial surgeries but also liposuction, tummy tucks and non-surgical options. They want to look young and fit and get rid of those stubborn areas of excess fat that just won’t budge, no matter how much they diet or exercise.”

His observations are backed up by The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). Recently released ASAPS statistics show a 121% increase in cosmetic surgery procedures among men during the past 15 years. ASAPS figures also show that 9% of all cosmetic procedures in the United States during 2011 were performed on men.

Of course, Dr. Price still treats more women than men due to the popularity of procedures such as breast augmentation in CT. However, he is seeing an increasing number of men who have their own motivations for seeking plastic surgery.

Dr. Price cites the tough economy of the past couple of years as one reason for the increase.

“The tight job market has caused many people – particularly men in their 40s, 50s and even 60s – to become more aware of the need to present a younger, healthier image to potential employers. As a result, they are turning not only to plastic surgery but also to non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments.

“At my practice near New Haven, plastic surgery patients – both male and female – are seeking ways to look younger and healthier in order to give themselves a more competitive edge in the job market.”

For this reason, much of the emphasis among men is on facial procedures, Dr. Price says.

ASAPS statistics show that a large percentage of male cosmetic surgery procedures focus on the face. According to ASAPS, the top five surgical procedures for men in 2011 were liposuction, rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, reduction of excess breast tissue, and facelifts.

Media attention about this trend is increasing men’s interest in cosmetic surgery, Dr. Price says.

“When men see these stories on TV and on the Internet, it helps erase any stigma that was once attached to male cosmetic procedures,” he says. “They feel more comfortable because it’s no longer considered unusual. They’re hearing the message that plastic surgery is not just for women anymore.”

Dr. Gary Price Named Top Doctor by U.S. News and Connecticut Magazine

Dr. Gary Price joins Connecticut Magazine’s list of top doctors for the third year in a row. This coincides with his recognition in the U.S. News Top Doctors list of the best Connecticut plastic surgeons.

Guilford, Connecticut (March 2013) – Gary Price, M.D., (www.drgaryprice.com) recently received 2 top doctor recognitions, ranking him among the top Connecticut plastic surgeons. Both honors are based on the recommendation and endorsement of other physicians.

“It’s a great honor to be recognized in my field by my peers,” says Dr. Price, who specializes in procedures that include facial rejuvenation, abdominoplasty and breast augmentation in Guilford, CT. “I’m very grateful to those who nominated me, as well as those who chose me through the selection process.”

His first recognition – being named among the “Top Docs” in Connecticut – came from Connecticut Magazine. This is Dr. Price’s third time receiving the distinction. Connecticut Magazine finds its Top Docs by sending questionnaires to Connecticut doctors.

Connecticutmag.com says the questionnaire asks the doctors “to recommend a doctor (other than themselves) to whom they would send a loved one for expert medical care.” Those who receive the most recommendations are added to the Top Docs list.

Dr. Price was also named to the list of U.S. News Top Doctors. To create this directory of “Top Doctors,” U.S. News partnered with New York City-based Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., publisher of America’s Top Doctors® and creator of Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors™.

Like Connecticut Magazine, the U.S. News Top Doctors process is based on peer nominations. The nominees are then reviewed by a physician-directed research group. Doctors cannot apply or nominate themselves. Furthermore, neither physicians nor an employer of a physician can pay to have a doctor added to the list.

“I work hard to provide the best for my patients,” says Dr. Price. “Their esteem is what matters the most to me. However, it’s very encouraging to know that my peers recognize and appreciate what I do.”

Dr. Price specializes in plastic surgery for people from New Haven and other Connecticut communities, as well as those from New York and Rhode Island.
