Cosmetic Procedures for Men

topless athletic manContrary to what some people might think, cosmetic procedures aren’t just for women. After all, everyone wants to look and feel their best, and everyone has flaws they wish they could correct – even men! Read on for some more information about cosmetic procedures for men and how they can benefit you!

Gynecomastia

“Gynecomastia” is the medical term for enlarged male breasts, which can be treated with male breast reduction. Enlarged male breasts are actually very common, and they may be the result of excess weight gain or a reaction to certain medications. Male breast reduction is an outpatient procedure where excess fat and tissue are removed to reduce the size of breasts.

Liposuction

Liposuction may also be used to reduce male breast size, and it is also used to get rid of fat that you just can’t seem to get rid of through diet and exercise. Liposuction can be used on the abdomen, thighs, face, neck, and arms.

Injectables

Different injectables can do different things: Botox, Dysport, and Juvéderm can help to reduce wrinkles, and Restylane can help to smooth wrinkles and can replace lost volume. These injectables provide great results, and they can be done very quickly – many patients have an injectable procedure done on their lunch hour and then get right back into their day. Ask your doctor if there is an injectable that can help you!

Rhinoplasty

It isn’t just women who may not like how their nose looks – if you are a man, of course, you may not be happy with your nose, either! Rhinoplasty can help to change the appearance of your nose (thus changing the appearance of your whole face), it can also help to repair a nose that has been damaged through accident or other trauma, and it can also help to correct structural problems that keep you from breathing (and even sleeping) properly.

Everyone has something they would like to change about themselves. Whether you are a man or a woman, Dr. Gary J. Price can help – these listed are just a few procedures to choose from. Call the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, for a consultation. Call (203) 453-6635 for an appointment today!

Do you deserve a Mommy Makeover? Of course you do!

Beautiful sexy woman in swimwear on private luxury sailing yacht laying relaxing on deckHaving a baby is a magical, life changing experience – and of course it also means a lot of very dramatic changes for your body! If you are looking for a way to get your body back to its pre-baby condition, a Mommy Makeover can help!

What is a Mommy Makeover?

Exercise and good nutrition can go a long way toward keeping a new mom healthy – both physically and mentally. However, as you may have discovered, there is only so much exercise and a good diet can do. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can lead to lost volume in the breasts, a loss of tone and contour in different areas, and bits of fat that you just can’t seem to get rid of.

A Mommy Makeover is a combination of procedures to deal with problem areas. The procedures are customized according to your wishes and your cosmetic surgery goals. You might choose liposuction to remove fat, a tummy tuck to get rid of excess fat and skin, and/or a breast lift or breast augmentation to perk up sagging breasts. In a Mommy Makeover the procedures can be performed simultaneously, which means you only have to recover from one procedure instead of different procedures spread out over time. You’ll also have less exposure to anesthesia.

Before considering a Mommy Makeover, you should be in good health and at a stable weight. It will take from 2 weeks to a month before you’ll be able to return to all of your regular activities, depending on which procedures you have done. You should plan on having help around the house for about a week after the procedure, and you should arrange to have someone stay with you for the first 24 hours after the procedure. You should be done having children and finished breastfeeding, and you should have lost most of your baby weight.

Dr. Gary J. Price can help you to decide what procedures to include in your Mommy Makeover. You know you deserve to look and feel your best! Schedule a consultation at the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, at (203) 453-6635. Call today!

What is a mini facelift?

woman are happy with perfect clean healthy skin and beautiful long brown hair.If you have been considering a procedure to correct sagging facial skin, you should know that there are other options out there besides a full facelift. A mini facelift has many benefits over a full facelift – here is some more information on what a mini facelift is and why it might be right for you!

What is a mini facelift?

A mini facelift is used to treat stretchy and saggy skin on the lower two-thirds of the face. It can help reduce extra skin underneath the chin and the jowls and those deep folds and wrinkles that can develop on the lower part of the face. In the procedure, an incision is made in front of the ear, at the hair line. A thin layer of muscle underneath the skin is lifted, the extra skin is trimmed, and the incision is hidden. Lifting the muscle helps to enhance your face’s natural contours and gives your jaw definition while still looking natural.

What are the benefits of a mini facelift?

Patients appreciate the benefits of a mini facelift over a traditional facelift. In a mini facelift, you don’t need general anesthesia – local anesthesia or intravenous sedation is used. The procedure typically takes just a little over an hour, and most patients report minimal to no pain afterwards.

With a mini facelift, you get the impressive results of a traditional facelift but with a quicker recovery (although you will have to avoid strenuous activity for about 2 weeks), shorter incisions, and less cost. It is a good alternative for patients who are just starting to see changes caused by aging and for those who have already had a facelift but are starting to notice that the effects are wearing off. A mini facelift can be done with other plastic surgery procedures – such as a brow lift, eyelid surgery, Botox, or dermal fillers for the top third of the face – depending on the results you would like to see.

If you would like more information on a mini facelift, make a consultation appointment with Dr. Gary J. Price! Call the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, at (203) 453-6635 today!

Why Fat Transfer Might Be Right for You

Attractive Slender Woman in a Crop Top and Jeans, against a RailDo you have fat in all the wrong areas, while other areas are lacking volume? Sometimes the most obvious solution is the right one – why not take fat from one area and transfer it to another? Read on for more information about fat transfer and why it might be the right procedure for you!

What is the procedure for a fat transfer?

Fat may be “harvested” from many areas of the body, such as the lower stomach, the thighs, or the inner knees. The fat is removed in a procedure much like liposuction, and it is then processed before being reinjected.

What can fat transfer be used for?

Fat transfer is a very popular way to enhance the breasts and improve the contour of the body. It can also be used for facial wrinkles and other areas of the face where you want more volume. It can be used to help hands look younger, reduce the appearance of scars, and it can even help to enhance the lips.

What are the benefits of fat transfer?

One benefit is that you are taking care of two problems at once – any “problem areas” you have can be reduced, toned, and contoured by having fat removed, while your other “problem areas” are plumped up and given more volume.

Another benefit is that you don’t have to worry about an allergic reaction to what is being injected into your body, since it is your own fat! Fat transfers are natural, noninvasive procedures with a low risk of complications, and many women prefer the idea of a fat transfer to breast implants.

After the procedure you may have some swelling, bruising, and discomfort at the site where fat was removed, but this should only last a couple of days. The fat injection site won’t have any scarring at all, and at the liposuction site you will only have a minimal scar.

Do you think a fat transfer procedure might be right for you? Contact the office of Dr. Gary J. Price for a consultation or to learn more. Call the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, at (203) 453-6635 today!

What is a body lift?

woman in a swimsuit with a perfect shape and line showing her bodyDo you have excess skin and fat left over from your killer weight loss program? Or maybe you’ve had a baby, and you just can’t seem to get rid of that last bit of fat? A body lift may be the solution for you – read on to find out more about this procedure!

Can a body lift help me?

A body lift is actually a combination of procedures that your doctor will suggest that will help you meet your own personal goals. It might be a tummy tuck, a buttock lift, and a thigh lift – you can discuss with your doctor what you are hoping to achieve with your body lift, and he or she can help you to decide exactly what your body lift will include.

A body lift may be right for you if you have hanging or drooping skin left over after you have lost a lot of weight. This may cause you to feel self-conscious and to lose confidence in yourself, even when you always wear big, fluffy sweaters that cover your body. A body lift can help with these issues, and it can also help if your hanging skin is causing rashes or chaffing and other medical problems.

If you lead a healthy lifestyle after your body lift, there is no reason why the results won’t be permanent. The other nice thing about a body lift is that, although it may combine a few procedures, these will all take place during one surgery, so there is only one recovery period needed. You will need some time to recover, though, as it is surgery. You should plan on taking time off of work and plan on having help for at least 2 weeks.

If you’ve done the hard work of losing weight (or the hard work of carrying a baby!), you shouldn’t have to live with excess skin and fat. Dr. Gary J. Price can perform a body lift to help you have the toned and contoured body you deserve to have. Call the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, for a body lift consultation. Call (203) 453-6635 today!

4 Things You Should Know About Rhinoplasty

Glamour fashion model with bright gloss make-up posing at studioHave you been thinking about a nose job (rhinoplasty)? It can be a big decision – not only are you trying to decide what (if any) changes you would like to make to your face, but you have to keep in mind that it is surgery, and with surgery there are always risks to consider. Here are some things you should know about rhinoplasty, to help you decide if this procedure is right for you.

What you need to know about rhinoplasty

If you are considering a nose job, you should:

1. Have realistic expectations. You may have your idea of your “perfect” nose, but a movie star or model’s nose may just not be right for the shape of your own face. Also, your nose will not look ideal right after the surgery – it will take time for swelling to go down, so make sure you keep that in mind for the first few days.

2. Know the cost. You should check with your insurance company to see what (if any) of your rhinoplasty will be covered. If it is performed to help you breathe better or for another medical reason, the entire procedure may be covered, whereas if it is only for cosmetic purposes it may not be covered at all.

3. Realize that there are risks. Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure, and any surgical procedure has risks. These may include an adverse reaction to the anesthesia, numbness, and excessive bleeding.

4. Consider carefully who will do your surgery. There is an art to plastic surgery, and you want to make sure you get a doctor with the expertise and the skill to do your nose job. He or she should also take the time to listen to your concerns and to talk with you about what you hope to get out of the procedure.

Deciding whether or not to have a nose job can be a big decision! Dr. Gary J. Price and his staff will be happy to answer any questions you might have so that you can make a decision that is right for you. Call the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, at (203) 453-6635 for a consultation appointment today!

Which kind of breast implant is right for you?

Doctor showing silicone implant for breast augmentation to patientHave you been considering breast augmentation? It is a procedure that can do wonders for your figure and your self-confidence. You no doubt have many questions, and one place to start is getting information on the different kinds of implants you have to choose from.

Saline

A benefit of saline implants, which are filled with sterile salt water, is that they feel very natural. Another benefit is that if there is a leak in the implant, the saline will be harmlessly absorbed by the body, although the implant will collapse.

Silicone

Silicone implants also feel very natural, and they come in a wide variety of sizes. If a silicone implant leaks, its design will ensure that it will not collapse; however, after the surgery, you will need to visit your doctor regularly to make sure that the implant is still in good condition.

Ideal implants

Ideal breast implants are a fairly new addition to a patient’s breast augmentation choices. They have many benefits: they look and feel natural and they are made in such a way that they do not wrinkle and won’t collapse. They are also very safe. They have been shown to have a lower rupture rate than other types of implants, and there is no need to check with your doctor to make sure that your implants are intact – you can check for yourself by looking in the mirror. If the implant does rupture, the saline inside will be safely absorbed by the body. Patient satisfaction with Ideal has also been very high.

Want to see what you may look like after your breast implant?

With the 3D imaging system Crisalix, you’ll have the opportunity to see what you will look like after your procedure. It can help you decide if you do want breast augmentation and even the size you would like your breasts to be.

Dr. Gary J. Price and his staff at the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, can help you to decide which type of implant is right for you, and you can even get a sneak peek at the final results with Crisalix. Call (203) 453-6635 today!

Should you have ear surgery?

beautiful young woman pointing finger to her earHave your ears always made you feel self-conscious? Do you feel like they stick out too far or they are too large for your head? Or maybe you have been having second thoughts about that gauge, but if you take it out now you’ll have embarrassing and unsightly stretched out ear lobes. Whatever the case, otoplasty can help!

What is otoplasty?

Otoplasty is simply ear surgery, which is sometimes referred to as “ear pinning.” It can be used to reshape or remove ear cartilage for ears that are too big, protrude too far out from the head, are asymmetric, or are too pointy. It can also be used to fix a torn or stretched ear lobe.

Who can have otoplasty?

This procedure has a very low incidence of complications, and even children can have otoplasty. By the age of 5, the ears are nearly fully developed, but the cartilage is more easily moldable than it is in the adult ear.

Ear surgery is performed on an outpatient basis, and intravenous sedation or general anesthetic can be used. The exact procedure varies depending on what the issue is and what results the patient would like to see, and both ears can be corrected during the same procedure. Any incisions can be made on the back of the ear so that any scars will be hidden.

After otoplasty, patients report only minimal pain. However, you will probably be uncomfortable, bruised, and swollen. Over-the-counter pain medication can help. Once the swelling goes down you will notice a difference right away. Although you should avoid anything too strenuous for a few weeks after the surgery, you can get back to your normal activities within a week to 10 days. You will be given compression bandages to support the ears, and you will want to make sure to protect your ears from any kind of impact.

With otoplasty, you don’t have to be self-conscious about your ears anymore – and your child doesn’t have to be, either. Contact the office of Dr. Gary J. Price for an otoplasty consultation. Call the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, at (203) 453-6635 for an appointment today!

Changing Your Cheeks

We’ve all seen those gorgeous models and movie stars – and what is one thing a lot of them have in common? Prominent cheek bones! Having cheek augmentation can drastically change the look of your face. Read on for some more information about this procedure!

What is cheek augmentation?

Maybe your cheeks have lost volume and are saggy, or maybe you’ve just always wanted movie-star caliber cheekbones. Whatever your reasons for wanting more contoured and defined cheeks, there is help available. There are different ways to change your cheeks; your doctor can discuss all of your options with you and will be able to advise you which procedure you should have to get the results you want.

• Cheek implants are made of silicon, a permanent and safe option for reshaping the cheeks. Implants can last for a lifetime.

• Fat transfer is another option; in this procedure, fat is simply taken from another part of the body and injected into the cheeks. This is a more natural option than a silicon cheek implant, and because it can be injected a little bit at a time it offers the doctor a way to easily shape and place the fat. Because the fat comes from the patient, there is no risk of rejection by the body or a bad reaction. Eventually, the fat will be absorbed into the body, typically in about 3 to 4 years.

• Injectable fillers, such as Juvéderm Voluma, are another way to change the look of your cheeks – you will see results immediately. Another benefit of fillers is that if you aren’t happy with the results, they are easily reversible. A downside of fillers is that they are only a short-term solution, and additional injections are needed about every 2 years.

Cheek augmentation can add contour and volume to the face, making you look younger and accentuating the beauty of your face. If you are interested in cheek augmentation, contact the offices of Dr. Gary J. Price today for a consultation to see which of these procedures is right for you. Call the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, at (203) 453-6635!

Help for Tired-Looking Eyes

Closeup Of Handsome Male Face With Black Marks On Skin Under Eye.It’s no wonder you’re tired, what with all of the activity of the holidays, plus keeping up with work and taking care of your family. But you don’t have to look tired! Perk up tired winter eyes (and take some time for yourself) with a procedure from Dr. Gary J. Price!

Options for tired looking eyes

There are a few different options you have if you feel like your eyes aren’t as bright, alert, and beautiful as you would like them to be:

• Blepharoplasty, also known as “eyelid surgery.” In this procedure, excess tissue, skin, and fat are removed to tighten the skin and to reduce puffiness around the eyes. It can also get rid of those bags that appear under eyes and help with eyelids that are too droopy. It can also help remove wrinkles around the eyes.

• Brow lift. In a brow lift, the lines on the forehead and in between the eyes are erased – these lines can make you look perpetually angry and/or tired. If your brow sags, a brow lift can help, which makes eyes look younger and more alert.

• Latisse. Eyelashes are such a simple thing, but how they look can really affect how your eyes look. Latisse is a simple way to get long, thick, dark, and beautiful lashes to accentuate your gorgeous eyes. This is a treatment that is prescribed by your doctor and you apply each night.

• Injectables. Facial injectables are a great way to perk up eyes without the hassle and downtime of a surgical procedure. An injectable such as Botox can help to reduce crow’s feet and wrinkles around the eyes, while a dermal filler such as Juvéderm can help to smooth fine lines and add volume to the face.

Recovering from the holidays (and life in general) may have you feeling tired and run down, but no one has to know it, thanks to a procedure that can help your tired eyes. Contact the office of Dr. Gary J. Price to see which procedure is right for you. Call the office in New Haven or Fairfield County, CT, at (203) 453-6635 today!
