Dental Crowns

When a tooth is severely damaged from trauma, decay or extensive dental treatments, it may need protection. Dental crowns offer a new exterior to a natural tooth, adhering to and covering the natural tooth. If you have a broken or cracked tooth, dental restorations, like crowns, inlays and onlays, can restore your damaged tooth. Scott A. Babin, DDS and Associates offers advanced dental restorations to repair teeth, including dental crowns, at our office in Renton, WA.

Restore Cracked or Damaged Teeth

Dental crowns are created to replicate your existing tooth. If you have a cracked or damaged tooth, a crown can be milled to restore your tooth. An impression, physical or digital, is taken of your tooth. At Scott A. Babin, DDS and Associates, we use advanced digital technology to create a 3D image of your tooth that can be used to create a dental crown. The dental crown is placed over and bonded to the tooth, creating a new exterior. While metal can be used to create dental crowns, most of our patients prefer a ceramic or porcelain dental crown that is white and matches the color of their smile.

Dental Inlays and Onlays

Not all damaged teeth need a complete dental crown. In some cases, dental inlays or onlays can be used to repair a damaged tooth. If only part of the tooth is broken, cracked or chipped, an inlay or onlay can be created to cover the damaged portion of the tooth. Unlike fillings, inlays and onlays are not created within the tooth. These restorative treatments are made in a dental lab or our on-site CEREC® machine, then adhered to the tooth. They can be made from ceramic or porcelain, color-matched to the tooth to create a natural appearance.

If you have a damaged tooth, inlays, onlays and dental crowns are options for restoring and repairing your tooth. Contact us at Scott A.
